10 Travel Resolutions for 2026

So here we have mine and James’ travel resolutions for 2026! Plus, I thought it would be fun to have the Holiday Expert team share their resolutions as well. You can find out more about everyone (apart from newbie Jack, we’re setting him up a profile asap) here!

So whether you’re looking for travel ideas or you’re just plain nosey – here’s what the HE team is manifesting for their travels in 2026!

1. A country you’re hoping to visit for the first time

Sunset lagoon Paolyn Houseboat Philippines

James: I want to visit a South American country as I’ve never been there – we should tick off a country there this year!

Chelsea: I’d like to eventually visit every country in Europe – so Slovenia is next on my list, I want to see Lake Bled.

Jack: Thailand! I really want to explore all of the incredible islands and fulfil a dream of going to the Full Moon party!

Anna: I keep seeing the Philippines online and it looks amazing – and not quite overrun with tourists (yet!)

Katie: I think I’m finally going to make it to Japan – I’m excited to see some shrines, drink some highballs and come back with a suitcase full of ceramics.

2. A non-capital town or city you want to explore

taghazout morocco

Chelsea: I want to go to Akureyri in the north of Iceland. James and I have actually been before but couldn’t stay long due to weather. And now you can fly there directly from the UK.

James: Mine is Milan – mainly because I keep saying I’ve been there but I haven’t. Apparently they also do aperitivo very well, which is basically a dinner before your dinner. Result!

Jack: Porto – I’m off there at the end of the month and can’t wait.

Anna: Taghazout looks like the ultimate winter sun destination, plus it’s got beachy surfy vibes!

Katie: Wrocław has been on my list for ages, and this is the year I’m gonna go. I want to learn more about its history and stay in a lush hotel for less.

3. A trip you plan to take closer to home

Wild Atlantic Way

James: It’s got to be Ireland, I’ve only been to Dublin and I’d like to see more places.

Chelsea: My pick is the Atlantic Way road trip in Ireland, so we’d better go hadn’t we James?!

Jack: I’ll probably be back in Cork this year (as per) to see the family. It’s such a hidden gem on the West Coast and my happy place.

Anna: I’d love to explore more of the Scottish Highlands. I’m a bit ashamed as a Scot I’ve only been about twice!

Katie: I’ll be taking my usual trip to Dorset, and having a wet and windy walk along West Bay!

4. A style of holiday you don’t usually choose

a frame wood cabin

James: A digital detox, so something like a log cabin where you lock your phone away. I’ve always poo-pooed these but I’m ready.

Chelsea: Mine is a hiking holiday, I want to climb Yr Wyddfa – that’s the new official name for Snowdon.

Jack: I need a digital detox too! I am way too addicted to my phone and a change needs to happen!

Anna: You’ll never ever catch me doing a hiking or camping trip. Not for me, thanks!

Katie: I’d love to visit Jordan but planning a route feels overwhelming, so I’m thinking of doing my first organised tour.

5. A travel experience you want to tick off

Pyramids, Giza, Egypt

James: I think sampling all the business class seats on all of the airlines would be a really important exercise – for the business.

Chelsea: I want to ice skate through a forest – I’ve seen these iced-over walking trails in places like Canada all over my TikTok. I’m planning to take some ice skating lessons this year!

Jack: A sleeper train would be super cool if I get the chance this year; it’s always been a dream.

Anna: I’ve been saying I want to visit the pyramids for about three years now! Maybe in 2026?

Katie: : I’m obsessed with this Netflix show called Home for Christmas, so I’d love to visit Røros in Norway where a lot of it is filmed.

6. A person you’d like to do a trip with

Anna in Cappadoccia landscape

Chelsea: My dad, because I haven’t done a trip with my dad for ages. Jon – you’re up!

James: I think Chelsea and I should go away with our friends William and Jordan (who host the podcast Help I Sexted My Boss). We’ve been away with them before and it was great!

Jack: For me that’s my friend Joe. We had an amazing time away in Croatia last year – I just know the vibes will be great.

Katie: Anna and I have been talking about a Berlin weekender for months… shall we go for it Anna?!

Anna: Katie, send me your Berlin Airbnb wishlist!

7. A language goal you’re setting for the year

Montepellier France

Chelsea: You can actually book immersion courses to learn a language fast – I found one in Montpellier which is French lessons in the morning and cooking classes in the afternoon. Amazing!

James: I want to learn Spanish! Specifically, have a conversation with a Spanish person. I did struggle with my coffee order in Mexico City this year.

Jack: Portuguese – I already know a bit but I defo need to learn more!

Anna: I really enjoyed learning French in school, but maybe it’s time to expand past where I live and how many brothers I have.

Katie: I have GOT to learn some Portuguese – I want to be able to order a coffee like a local.

8. A mode of transport you want to travel by

Rio open door helicopter ride Brazil

Chelsea: I want to take The Canadian, it’s a train across Canada (and I have actually booked this one already!).

James: I want to dress up as a Power Ranger, get a motorbike and drive up a hill – this could be anywhere in the world to be fair.

Jack: I’m thinking a little cycle challenge might be fun?

Anna: Have you seen that you can do an open door helicopter ride in Rio?!

Katie: I know what I don’t want to travel by – catamaran – but I do love an island holiday, so I’m going to say a ferry. Slow and steady does it for me!

9. A food or drink you’re excited to taste

Basque cheesecake

Chelsea: I want to eat a Basque cheesecake in the Basque region, somewhere like San Sebastian.

James: I want to try ceviche in Peru and poutine in Canada – although I was today years old when I learnt it’s basically chips, cheese and gravy.

Jack: I’m curious about the salt fish in Porto – I’ve heard it’s insane.

Anna: I’m currently in Thailand where I’m eating khao soi every chance I get! Maybe I’ll pack some 7/11 toasties in my bag to take home too.

Katie: There’s this broccoli pasta from Puglia that I like, so I might nab some cheap flights to Bari and find a friendly granny to cook it up for me.

10. An indulgence you’d love to tick off your bucket list

A London coffee shop interior

Chelsea: I want to sleep in a a double bed on a train.

James: Now that I’ve quit morning radio I want to be able to go to a coffee shop in the morning before I start work – and yes that does count as travel.

Jack: A massage! The years of playing sports are starting to catch up with me. Oh, and a sauna – so perhaps a little Finland trip is on the cards?

Anna: I wasn’t much of an ASMR fan until I came across head spas – I need to see my scalp under a microscope ASAP 😂

Katie: This is a bit niche but I want to get one of those full body health scans done in South Korea – health is wealth right?!
