When I’m about to book a hotel, I always do a few final checks to make sure I’m getting the best price.
But first, make sure you make a note the following so you can fairly compare:
It’s baffling how much the price of the same hotel can vary and third party websites can quickly show you what websites you could book on.
Even if you’ve found a great price on a comparison website, I always make sure to check third party booking sites as well.

It’s time to check the price direct with your accommodation. Remember, if a third party website is beating their price, you could always reach out to see if they can price match or offer anything to sweeten the deal, like free breakfast, or late checkout.
My top tip here is to check to see if your hotel has an ‘offers’ page, or if they’ve posted any deals on their social channels in the last few days.
The final price check is to just quickly check to see if the price goes down if you try booking in a different way.
Sometimes my desktop is cheaper, sometimes it’s my phone’s web browser, and then at other times it’s best using the booking websites app!
Okay, you’ve found a great price but could you save even more money?
Cashback sites and eStores let you earn money or other perks from clicking through their links and I’ve got up to 20% back cashback on hotels in the past!
However, remember to compare everything back to the prices you’ve already found to work out the best deal for you.
Also, it’s worth checking the terms as sometimes you won’t earn cashback on certain bookings, or if you’re using a voucher code at the same time.
Deal websites won’t always have the hotel you’re after on there, but it’s always worth a punt!
I feel like this rarely works these days – sob! But it doesn’t hurt to just do a quick search on socials to see if there is a voucher code for the accommodation site that you’re using to book.
Another way to earn even more money, is by opting to pay with a card that offers you even more perks. This could be cashback or points, but always make sure you can pay everything off in full.
