The Best Travel Gifts To Make Your Trip More Luxury
Even if like me you love affordable travel, there are ways to hack your trip to get a bit of luxury even when you’re on a budget. This list of the best travel gifts is designed to sprinkle a little bit of luxe over your trip, however and wherever you travel.
Travel gift #1: Posh travel pillow

If you don’t have a travel pillow – seriously what are you waiting for?! This is probably the main thing that transforms my travels, making it much easier for me to relax and sleep in spaces where I usually wouldn’t – like economy plane seats (sob!) and trains.
My fave splurge pillow is Ostrich, but lots of people rate Trtl too. I’ve actually tried out a bunch for you and given them each a rating over in my neck pillow review.
Travel gift #2: Hotel scent candle

Hotels can be seriously extra these days – some of them have expanded into product ranges like linens and homewares, so you can get that plush hotel feeling in your own home.
I particularly like the idea of finding out the scent they use in your favourite hotel, and then nabbing some for your home. Marriott even list all their scents handily online!
A twist on this to go for a scent named after or inspired by a location – something like YSL Paris for example, or one of the Maison Margiela Replica scents. If you’re splurging, Diptyque has a whole cities range.
Travel gift #3: Nice travel washbag

With 100ml liquid limits finally starting to be phased out – at UK airports at least – I am getting a lot more excited about my toiletries bag. My mum actually gifted me one of these Stackers ones, and it’s SO nice. So helpful for keeping everything together – and you can hang it up, keeping the sink area tidy.
Travel gift #4: Gift card

If you’re not a big gift giver, or you prefer gifting experiences over things, then a gift card is the way to go.
Now I know these can get a bad rep for be unimaginative – but there are actually lots of ways you can glitz it up so it’s not just a sad email. Etsy sellers are so creative and you can get things like this scratch-off boarding pass which make for a cute reveal.
Another way to zhuzh up the prospect of a gift card is to earmark it only for extras. Say you have a city break booked with your other half already – get them a gift card to use on flight add-ons like a bigger bag, hotel extras like the spa or breakfast, or activities like a walking tour or photo shoot.
Travel gift #5: Travel artwork

Talking of getting creative with more ‘boring’ gifts – why not go big and turn a ticket from your travels into a full-on art piece?
I saw this very cute boarding pass artwork online – it’s such a sweet way to transform a insignificant bit of travel admin into a beautiful keepsake from your trip.
You could keep it simple by making some photo magnets of your holiday snaps, or order some artwork inspired by your travels off Etsy. These are all super thoughtful ways to make something tangible from your travels – since it pretty much stays in the camera roll these days!
Travel gift #6: Airtag

Stay with me on this one! Popping an airtag in your luggage gives you real peace of mind – and isn’t that one of the greatest gifts of all?!
Whether you follow your bag’s journey in the hold, or just feel reassured it’s still in the luggage rack where you left it, an airtag can help take the edge off travel pressures. And you can get fun airtag holder keyrings like this one if you want to make it a more interesting gift.
Apple have just announced a new generation of airtag with some better features like a more precise tracker. Plus you can securely share its location – say with an airline if your bag goes AWOL – which is really handy. Amazon often run offers on these so you can usually bag one for under £30.
Travel gift #7: Mini perfume

Even though the 100ml liquid limits are beginning to be phased out – it’s not the case everywhere. Plus, you don’t always want to take the whole bottle of your much-loved perfume on your trip (why are perfume bottles always so clunky?!).
A mini perfume will take up much less room in your bag – and if you buy one that’s different from your usual, then your holiday even gets it’s own signature scent. Kinda romantic huh?!
Travel gift #8: A hotel room upgrade

My hotel room upgrade template is one of the things I get asked about the most. You can use it on any occasion and it’s literally a no brainer – and best of all, it’s free!
Just ask politely if your accommodation can upgrade you – if they do, wonderful, and if they don’t, well no harm done! Sometimes I find I don’t get an upgrade but I do get a nice extra – like a treat in the room or even a complimentary breakfast. Use my free template and try it out yourself!
Travel gift #9: Uber credit

Catch a cab to and from the airport and add a touch of luxe to your trip when you’ll most appreciate it. Or use it for a romantic takeaway in bed.
Travel gift #10: Travel wallet

A travel wallet is a nice way to feel a bit more bougie when you’re jetting off somewhere, especially if it’s monogrammed. Bag and accessories brand Katie Loxton has loads of travel wallets, bags and purses in lots of colours, and you can add intials for that personal touch.
