You might know that Italian coffee culture is pretty different to that of the UK - and the US. The most popular coffee has got to be an espresso, which they’ll usually just drink standing at the bar. If you sit down for a coffee in Italy, it will usually cost you more.
If you want to try an iconic spot, head to Sant' Eustachio for a classic Neapolitan coffee - they tend to add sugar by default, the Neapolitan way - or Tazza d'Oro which are both near the Pantheon. Bear in mind that in Italian cafes, you often pay first at the till, then hand the receipt to the barista who’ll prepare your drink for you.
Over the years, Rome has become more attuned to international coffee tastes and you can find take away coffees now - but bear in mind it isn’t the norm. You can also just get a great coffee in most regular cafes or bars, so you don’t need to bust a gut getting somewhere specific if you don’t want to.
