Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam

4 Star

Hotel Jakarta is perched at the tip of Java-eiland in Amsterdam’s former Eastern Docklands, giving you amazing views over the IJ river. It’s not right in the historic Canal Belt, but it’s close – it’s a 4-minute tram ride to Centraal Station, and around 15 minutes to the city centre by bike.

This sleek, modern hotel has water views and impressive eco-friendly credentials. Inside, there’s a lush garden under a five-story atrium, a spa with a sauna and pool and a gym. The public areas, including a cafe and restaurant, serve as a lively community space, where hotel guests mingle with local Amsterdammers.

Rooms are really spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies. Most of the suites offer killer city views through glass walls.

Café Jakarta serves up tasty Indonesian and Western dishes, including a traditional rijsttafel (Indonesian small plates). Malabar cocktail bar on the top floor is unbeatable for sunset views, and Westers Bakery has decadent cakes and pastries. The breakfast buffet at Café Jakarta is loaded with Indonesian fried rice, home-baked breads and a wide selection of fruit.
