MyCocoon Hostel isn’t rated as highly as the spots we’d usually feature, but it’s a strong choice for solo travellers or anyone keen to meet people. It’s just that hostel options in Mykonos are rather thin on the ground.
It’s in an ideal location in Mykonos Town, so you’re well placed for wandering the whitewashed streets and making the most of the Little Venice buzz. The dorms are even quite stylish, with curved niches for the bunks in the traditional island style. And there’s a pool!
It’s one of the only places on the island that offers stays under £70 for a bed throughout the whole year – although we do hate to see that sharp rise in price in the peak month of August – ouch!
The Best Budget Hotels in Mykonos
Maria Eleni Guest House

Maria Eleni guesthouse is a strong budget contender for your Mykonos stay. It’s not a hostel in the sense you can book a dorm bed, but the rooms are functional and reasonably priced.
This spot is in a top location – a few hundred metres from the Mykonos windmills and Little Venice. Double and triple rooms are available; they’re basic but clean with a fridge, tea and coffee facilities and an ensuite.

Anais is a budget-friendly choice about a 15-minute walk from Mykonos Town – perfect if you want to be close to the action.
You can stay for as little as £40 in low season – just bear in mind that as with everywhere on the island, prices shoot up in summer. We’re talking £150 per night at least, which depressingly is even quite a good price compared to everything else!
Rooms here are simple with white walls and wooden furniture, and a balcony or terrace. All rooms have a fridge, but choose a room with a kitchenette if you want to prepare some meals. You can walk to the closest supermarket in about 5 minutes.
Guests rave about the charming vibes and hosts Marietta and Manolis who are on hand with recommendations to help make your stay memorable.
Galini Hotel

Galini Hotel is proof that a one-star rating does not automatically mean you have to abandon all hope of a nice place!
This is no-frills, sure, but it’s a cute little property right in Mykonos Town – just a few hundred metres from the closest beach and the port. You won’t find a pool or pampering vibes, but somewhere practical that serves as a functional base for your trip.
Rooms are clean and cosy, and friendly owner Maria is on hand to help you feel at home.

I considered Terra Maria Hotel for my budget stay in Mykonos, as the off peak prices are very tempting.
This place is in the chora (old town) so you’re right in the middle of things, making it an especially good deal. The rooms are modern and simply furnished, and you can get tips on the island hotspots from reception.
There’s a kitchen area where you can get complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day, and a communal terrace too.

Hotel Milena is a little gem, handily located both close to the airport and just outside Mykonos Town – walkable in about 20 minutes, or you can catch the bus that stops outside.
This is a family-run place, and guests rave about the friendly hosts who’ll make you feel right at home. Rooms are bright and spotlessly clean and there’s a bakery just along the street – perfect for a delicious breakfast!

Mykonos Gem is in the heart of Mykonos Town, tucked in amongst the famous whitewashed lanes of the chora. You’re by the posh designer shops here, so it feels like fancy upscale Mykonos without the prices.
Rooms are modern and simply furnished, spacious and clean. It might be central here, but the vibe is relaxed – and you’re within easy walking to distance of Agia Anna beach, the windmills and the port.

Boho Suites is a lush property in Mykonos Town, less than 10 minutes’ walk from Little Venice.
It’s a 2-star, but remember stars reflect facilities; because this place doesn’t have some of the premium things like a 24h reception or a communal swimming pool, it’s officially rated 2-star – but it feels very premium.
The interiors are really smart and modern – think monochrome styling and slick bathrooms with earthy textures. Each suite has a seating area, kitchette and desk – and there’s even a private plunge pool.

Choose a room or a suite – some have sea views and private pools. And there’s also an onsite spa too. And yes, this is a 5 star spot, but if you visit in low season – like October – you can find bargainous mid-range prices!

When we stayed, their Premium Suite was the same price as the smallest room in a luxury hotel!

Pelican Bay is a stylish and characterful retreat with a relaxed atmopshere that has guests coming back year after year.
It’s in Platis Yialos, one of the island’s most popular beaches, and is an easy bus ride to Mykonos Town and the port. Design-wise the interiors are elegant and contemporary, making the whole place feel very premium.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, there’s a pool and terrace with dreamy views and staff are super kind and helpful.

This lush hotel is part of the MGallery group, and it’s a stunning spot just a minute’s walk from Ornos beach. James and I stayed here for a night and it was giving plenty of luxury boutique vibes.
Guests get beautiful views of the sea from here, and each room has a spa bath. There’s a swimming pool and fitness centre onsite, and even a spa which looks like it’s been carved right into the rock. Rooms are fresh and white in the traditional style, and you’ll find Hermes bath products in the bathrooms.
There’s an excellent restaurant too – opt for the 10-course tasting menu if you really want to splurge.

You’re in a relatively secluded location here, so the whole experience is orientated around relaxing and escaping.
