See the tulips at Keukenhof

Keukenhof, Stationsweg, Lisse, Netherlands
affordable

Keukenhof is a huge flower garden in Lisse in the Netherlands. It's just under an hour's drive from Amsterdam, and around 40 minutes' drive from Ijmuiden ferry port, so it's a very popular destination.

Keukenhof is only open in the spring, as that's when the tulips are in bloom. In 2025, this was from 20 March to 11 May.

Now let me tell you, this place gets BUSY - and that's totally understandable given the short window of time that it's open.

The entrance fee is €20. It's €9 for kids and €9 for parking.

Now this isn't cheap, but if you bring your own picnic and drinks, then you don't need to spend a penny more during your trip. James and I decided to get some food there, but it wasn't great and it cost a lot - more than our entry fee!

The tulips and planting were beautiful - the gardeners and landscapers clearly know their stuff. However it did also feel a bit like Disneyland for tulips, as there were so many outlets selling things, and it was absolutely packed! However I do get that they only have a limited amount of time in the year to make their money - so they're maximising the selling opportunities all around!

A final note - it was SO ACCESSIBLE. We saw lots of wheelchair and mobility scooter users and lots of lovely flat pavements for prams and easy walking.
