Viray Vacay: Unique Floating Hotel

This floating hotel located on the crystal clear turquoise lagoons of Coron Island in the Philippines looks amazing. Who wouldn’t want to check into paradise and relax in these dreamy surroundings?

Thanks to this TikTok by @lanseescapes, we’re dying to go!

Paolyn Houseboats, Coron Island, Philippines

Paolyn Houseboats is a collection of accommodations in Coron Island, Philippines, that float on the sea.

You’re in tranquil lagoons here, where you can swim, snorkle and kayak to your heart’s content, and admire the majestic rocky landscape all around you.

The houseboats have huge picture windows so you can soak up the sea views, and some are arranged so you can’t see anyone else, making them feel really private. All of them have wifi and air conditioning.

Paolyn houseboats are super-sustainable, generating all their own electricity and fresh water. Any waste is stored and then channelled away to be safely processed. This helps protect the coral reef and diverse marine life.

You can choose from individual rooms or spacious suites located across several houseboats, including Sunset Houseboat – the one that features in the TikTok.

How viral? There are more than 2.2M views of the TikTok by @lanseescapes.

How much? Prices for a sunset suite – located on the private sunset lagoon – start at £413 per night.

If that feels a bit steep but you’d love a memorable stay on the water – check out our alternatives below.

Fancy a cheaper alternative?

Botel, Amsterdam

Botel is fun waterfront option in Amsterdam – a city which actually has a lot of quirky properties at reasonable prices. It’s located on a boat on the IJ, in the city’s trendy NDSM district.

At BBotel, you can stay in one of the regular rooms, or you can choose to stay in one of the five letters on the roof – B, O, T, E or L.

The letter lofts are all decked out slightly differently, with trendy-yet-functional decor that celebrates their individual shape and design. Depending on which letter you choose, you could get quirky extras like a projector, a circular bed or even a skate ramp.

How much? Lofts O and E cost from £253 per night. Lofts B, T and L cost from £227 per night.

And another?

Viking ferry line, Helsinki

For a cheaper floating option, consider a cosy night’s stay on the Viking line ferry in Helsinki, Finland. Ok a ferry is hardly a game changer, but this one has a bit of a twist!

It’s the ferry line that runs between Helsinki and Tallinn, Estonia. Typically you would book a bed so you can get some kip on the journey, but they actually sell some cabins for cheaper prices with one condition – you aren’t actually getting off!

So if you’re heading to Helsinki for a city break and fancy trying something a bit different, then give this a try.

How much? An ensuite cabin costs from £29 per night, based on 2 sharing.
