Traitors Hotel Stays For Under £50

Can you stay in a castle for under fifty quid? Why yes you can!

YHA St Briavels Castle, Gloucestershire

What’s special? This castle is over 800 years old, and is a Grade I listed ancient monument. Step inside and you’ll feel transported back to medieval times. Just look at her – isn’t she a beauty?!

Where you’ll stay: You can book a bunk, a room, or even the whole place! Needless to say, for stays less than £50, you’ll need to take the bunk option.

What to do: Now this is a stunning part of the country, and is officially an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so pack your hiking boots and enjoy the numerous walks in the area.

How much? Bunks start at £18 per night, private rooms from £120 per night. This spot is already pretty booked up for 2025 and into 2026, but there is some availability.

North Mains Cottage - Craigievar Castle, Scotland

What’s special? Stay in the grounds of picture-perfect Craigievar Castle, which will have you clogging up your camera roll. Now you aren’t inside the castle itself here, you’re in one of three cosy stone cottages on the estate. But it’s still a fab way to stay on-site and soak up that candy-pink castle magic.

Where you’ll stay: The cottage sleeps four, in two twin rooms.

What to do: There’s no wifi in the cottage, so you’ll have to venture out! Take a guided tour of Craigievar Castle to discover tales of days gone by, and head to the nearest town of Alford, where you can enjoy a drink in the pub and pick up groceries from the local shop.

How much? Prices vary, depending on the time of year and how many nights you stay. Right now, three nights in December is £319, which works out at £27 per person per night. But get this – seven nights is also £319 (they are running an offer) – which is just £11 per person per night!

How much? Prices start at around £68 per night for a standard room.
