How to Find Cheap Airport Parking

Updated: October 21, 2025

You’ve planned your trip down to the last detail. The travel insurance, an airport-hotel shuttle, even your mobile data roaming. But there’s one thing missing— that all-important airport parking space.

You see, your adventure doesn’t have to start with a frantic hunt for an expensive parking spot at the airport!

If you fancy a more stress-free start to a trip, I’m about to tell you the most cost-efficient ways to organise airport parking.

Cheap Car Hire

How to Book Airport Parking

Airport Parking

There are a few things to factor in when deciding on airport parking, as not all airport parking is equal! Just because a price looks good it doesn’t necessarily mean it will be the best option for your needs. For example, a cheaper car park may look fantastic on paper, but it may actually be further away from your terminal, or even be a shuttle bus ride away.

I’ve decoded all the parking jargon for you, in this guide:

On-Site Parking

These car parks are conveniently located within the airport. However, you may have to dig a little deeper into your pockets for the convenience of being right there. But don't worry, these parking lots could offer sweet deals depending on the length of time you’re planning on staying.

Off-Site Parking

Located outside of the airport but nearby, these car parks are often run by third-party companies and usually end up being cheaper than parking inside the airport. They might not be right on the airport property, but don't worry, most will be walkable or offer frequent shuttles to the terminal. In fact, some of these spots are just as quick and convenient as the on-site parking.

Meet and Greet Parking

Valet parking vibes: Drive your car to the terminal and hand off your keys to a driver who takes care of parking for you. When you return, voila! Your ride is magically waiting at the terminal. It's a more luxe service that can be a splurge, but sometimes it actually works out cheaper when you factor in the cost of separate travel to the terminal.

When Should You Book?

Booking Airport Parking

Car parking can be notoriously pricey, in fact, it’s one of the biggest revenue streams for airports. But we at Cheap Holiday Expert want you to save some cash and not just leave it all at the parking lot, so listen up!

The main trick is to book in advance – you could shave off up to 60% of the price if you plan ahead.

Most people book within nine weeks of departure, but those who book even earlier than that are the real winners. They snag the best deals and enjoy a cheaper price per night. Of course, availability is a crucial factor. If there’s low supply and high demand, prices can rise quicker.

So if you’re planning to travel in the peak season, I’d suggest getting in there early. Also, being as flexible as possible; so making sure you check the price of the car parking BEFORE you hit book on your holiday will help to get a cheaper deal too.

Best Websites for Booking Airport Car Parking

The most convenient way to find parking is to compare different options side by side and choose the one that suits you best. These websites help you do just that!

How to Save Money

Can’t find airport parking that fits your budget? Don’t worry, there are some other things you can try out too!

Airport Hotels with Free Parking

Did you know that if you stay a night at an airport hotel before your flight, you may be able to leave your car at the hotel whilst you’re away?! Plus, most places offer transfers to and from the airport – though there may be a small extra fee.

But here’s the real kicker: the package price for the hotel and parking combo often beats the cost of onsite airport parking alone!

Alternative Parking Options

It’s possible to ditch the official airport car parks altogether and save money with  some savvy alternatives. Parking space rental websites and apps allow individuals to rent out their private parking spaces to others, and enable travellers to hire these spots for the duration of their holiday.

JustPark

Arguably the most established player in the parking rental game; JustPark has quite a broad reach when it comes to available private parking spaces throughout the UK. It’s also super convenient with an instant booking and payment process. They provide insurance for up to £20,000 for damage or theft, giving users peace of mind when renting a space. JustPark is a good choice for those who want to quickly and easily book a parking space online, with the added security of insurance coverage.

YourParkingSpace

The website offers a variety of parking options including private driveways, garages, and commercial car parks. Once logged in, users can sift through reviews and search for available parking spaces in their desired location, using various filters, like type of parking, and price range. Overall, the booking process on YourParkingSpace is quick and easy, allowing travellers to reserve a parking space in just a few clicks.

Park Near a Public Transport Link

If you’re still struggling to meet your parking needs you could also consider parking near a convenient transport link. For example, you can find a station that has a direct train or bus to the airport, then search for a car park close to that station.
