What Is A Dog-Friendly Hotel?

This might seem an obvious question, but different hotels have different rules when it comes to dogs.

Rooms
Most hotels will have a number of dog-friendly rooms that are reserved for guests with pets to stay in. They might provide a dog bed or you may need to bring one with you, and you might be able to bring two dogs – or more. Some hotels will not let you leave your dog unattended in the room, whereas others will be OK with it.
Always let the hotel know you plan to bring your pet so they can make sure they have availability.

Breeds
Some hotels will only allow smaller dogs, which are often defined as being up to a certain weight.

Communal areas
Some hotels will restrict where dogs are allowed or will have a dedicated area where guests with dogs can eat. Others might want you to leave your dog in your room while you dine. Hotels generally ask you to have your dog on a lead when in public areas.

Gardens
Hotels might request that you keep your dog on a lead in the grounds.

Rules
Some hotels will have a formal pet policy, where they will lay out certain things like expectations of the owner and charges for damage or disturbance. Once you’ve chosen your hotel, get in touch with them about bringing your dog to ensure they can meet your needs and that you have an enjoyable stay.
