Walk down Piotrkowska Street

You’ll get pretty familiar with Piotrkowska Street when you visit Łódź – it’s the city’s main street and at over 4km is one of the longest shopping streets in Europe. You’ll find plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops here as well as beautiful architecture.
In this area there’s also plenty of cool street art like murals and sculptures. Some of it you’ll find by venturing off down little side streets so it’s worth spending some time wandering around this part of town. Just google ‘Łódź street art tours’ to find a route to follow for free.
See Rose Passage

Rose Passage is one of Łódź’s most photographed spots and it’s easy to see why. It’s a little alleyway covered in thousands (millions?!) of tiny mirror pieces that sparkle in the sunlight – like a huge disco ball come to life!
It’s really amazing in person – and may or may not come out well in photos depending on the time of day that you visit and what the weather is doing.
Check out Art Factory

Art Factory is one of Łódź’s main creative spaces, housed in a former factory. It hosts free cultural events like exhibitions, concerts and shows throughout the year.

The Best Cheap Things To Do In Łódź
Shop and grab a drink in OFF Piotrkowska

OFF Piotrkowska is an old industrial complex that’s now full of independent bars, shops and creative workspaces. It’s got a relaxed, laid-back vibe and is a great place to spend an evening.
Have lunch at a milk bar

Milk bars like SMAK Bar Tradycyjny are affordable cafeterias that were subsidised during the communist era. They’re known for hearty simple dishes like pierogi, soups and potato pancakes. It’s a very no-frills aesthetic, and one of the cheapest ways to get a hot meal in Poland. You’ll likely spend less on your lunch than you would on a takeaway coffee back home.
- Mains from around £3
See incredible plants at Palm House

Łódź’s Palm House is actually three greenhouses housing plants, trees and flowers from around the world. Check out the Mediterranean, tropical and desert zones – this one is a good activity to do in winter if you want a break from the cold.
- Entry costs about £3.50
Visit the Museum of Łódź

If you like nosing around in a city’s history when you visit, then make some time to visit the Museum of Łódź. It’s in a palatial building which was once home to one of the city’s most powerful textile merchants.
Here you can learn about Łódź’s industrial past and its wealthy factory owners – and gawp at some seriously swanky interiors, from enormous chandeliers to cavernous rooms.
- Entry costs at £5 (free on Wednesdays)
Learn about Polish cinema at the Cinema Museum

Łódź has played a significant role in the Polish film industry over the years, and you can find out how at its Cinema Museum (there’s even have a Hollywood-style walk of fame on Piotrkowska Street). Here you can explore the history of cinema through old cameras, posters and movie memorabilia.
- Entry costs about £6
Go shopping at Manufaktura

Manufaktura is like the smarter, slicker cousin of OFF Piotrkowska. It’s in a former factory complex, but the vibe is a lot more upmarket. Here you’ll find even more shops, restaurants, activities and entertainment. Even if you aren’t planning to spend any money here, it’s one of the city’s biggest attractions and makes for a fun half-day out.
Walk the Sewers at Dętka Canal Museum

Stay with me on this – there’s a huge sewer system under Plac Wolności, and it’s way more intriguing that it sounds. You can basically walk a giant loop through a red brick structure, it’s strangely atmospheric and calming.
- Entry costs about £2

Step back in time at Łódź City Culture Park

If you want to see what life has looked like in Łódź over the years, head to Łódź City Culture Park. It’s an open-air museum with traditional houses from different periods in the city’s history, with interiors and items that reflect every day life of the time.
- Entry costs about £11.50
Be a big kid at Hopa Lupa

One of my top picks, if slightly left field, is Łódź’s huge indoor activity park, Hopa Lupa. It’s actually the biggest one in Europe! They have trampolines, climbing walls, foam pits (who doesn’t love a foam pit) and obstacle courses. It makes a change from the more typical city break attractions, James and I loved our time here!
- A ticket for 2h costs about £13
The Best Luxury Things To Do In Łódź
Shop for niche fragrances at Mood Scent Bar

If you’re into luxury perfumes, Mood Scent Bar is one of the coolest shops in Łódź. It specialises in niche and unique fragrances, and the store is very cool, a bit like an art installation in itself. Splurging on a bottle to take home would make for a very cool souvenir.
- Fragrances start at around £21
Dine at Quale restaurant

Quale is one of Łódź’s most acclaimed restaurants and offers a proper fine-dining experience. The name means ‘quality’ in Latin – and here you can expect exquisite tasting menus that nod to the cuisines of Central Europe. There’s even a whisky and cigar room!
- Tasting menu from about £53
Book a private walking tour of Łódź

If you prefer a more intimate tour where an expert talks you through what you’re seeing, then book a private walking tour. You’ll get personalised insights into the city’s industrial boom, film heritage and street art scene. It’s definitely more of a luxury way to explore the city, but worth it if you want a deeper understanding of the place.
- Private walking tour from £79pp
