What is Megabus?

Megabus is a coach and rail company that offers cheap tickets to a number of destinations across the UK including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Cardiff. It also serves a number of airports too, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.

When Are the Next Megabus Sales in 2026?

Megabus tends to host sales at several times throughout the year and so here’s what’s currently on offer, and what to expect in the near future.

The Current Megabus Sale

Megabus is celebrating ‘Mega May‘ where they’ve got one-way tickets available for £5 or less every Tuesday and Wednesday in May. Though, booking fees will still apply.

What Routes Can I Take?

So it appears that this Mega May sale is for journeys that start and end in England and Wales – sorry Scotland! It also excludes megabus Southwest Falcon services and 3rd parties retailed through megabus

We’ve had a click around and have been impressed with how many options there are, and how many longer routes are included in the deal including:

  • London – Newcastle
  • Bristol – Leeds
  •  Manchester – Cardiff

How Do I Find Megabus Sale Tickets?

As long as your journey starts and ends in England or Wales, and you’re travelling on a Tuesday or a Wednesday in May, there’s a good chance you’ll find a £5 fare!

There’s also a network map available on the megabus website which may give you some inspiration.

When Does the Megabus £5 Sale End?

As the fare is just for journeys on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May, it means that the last possible date to use this deal is Wednesday 29th May 2024.

Isn’t There Already a £2 Cap on Local Bus Tickets?

In England, there’s a government-supported programme that limits the price of local bus tickets to £2 until December 2024. However, Megabus’ offer of £5 tickets covers much longer intercity routes, and allows travellers to more freely explore England, and Wales, where the £2 cap doesn’t apply.

When Will The Next Megabus Sale Be?

We don’t currently know when the next Megabus sale will be, though they have run £2 seat sales and 20% off sales in the past couple of years.

For 2026, we’ll be keeping our beady eyes out so head back here to check, and make sure you’re following us on Instagram where we’ll give you the heads up!
